Though I had by then already resigned as General Secretary from iSikh (earlier known as Sikh Students Federation, Nairobi) in 2005, I continued to design artworks for them as my own little way to serve higher causes to inspire the generations through my creative work. One of those voluntary assignments included photography of their many events, like the one of An Evening with Surjit Patar in 2012 at the Oshwal Centre Auditorium in Nairobi, where he released his poetry CD Dil da Saaz in collaboration with his equally accomplished younger brother Upkar Singh Hunjan who was then living in Nairobi but migrated to Canada in 2018.
Along with capturing the event in Nairobi, I also designed the covers of the poetic tribute CD Dil da Saaz that was released there as part of raising funds for iSikh’s religious, cultural and charitable projects.
Besides his world-acclaimed and award-winning poetry, Surjit Patar also wrote dialogues of the Punjabi movie Shaheed Uddham Singh and Videsh, the Punjabi version of Deepa Mehta's movie Heaven on Earth.
