Mata Tripta - the blessed mother who bore the Divine Light of Nanak
Guru Nanak bestowed the greatest and deserved honour to woman who has long been relegated to subjugation since time immemorial when he stated in his personally revealed divine revelations in the form of the Living Word - Shabad Guru (Guru Granth Sahib) - that, ‘why call her inferior from whom kings are born’. Such a womb that verily bore the founding Guru of the Sikhs - Guru Nanak - was so blessed that the Divine Light (Nanak) not only lived through ten human manifestations (1469-1708) to complete the formulation of the Sikh faith, but continues to eternally illuminate and enlighten the mind of man even beyond creation’s existence.
But it takes an equally divine body and soul to bear the Creator’s physical and spiritual embodiment. That is the power and status of woman in Sikhi - and only woman who can bear creation within her - affirming that woman is indeed beyond equal to man, and to whom all creation remains indebted to for as long as there breath in her own.
